Harris & Lewis Smokehouse Project in Stornoway is Now Well Underway

Construction work is now well under way at our Harris & Lewis Smokehouse project in Stornoway. The existing building has been stripped back to its structural frame in preparation for a sleek new cladding system, and foundations are being prepared for an extension to the front which will feature a restaurant, shop and fishmonger’s counter.


Our Office Wins at BCO Awards 2017 – Best Project up to 1500m2

We are very proud to announce that our office at 5 Advocate’s Close won British Council for Offices (BCO) Award 2017. We have received the trophy for the best office up to 1500m2 at the Scottish Awards Lunch in Glasgow earlier today.

As the winner of the Regional Awards, we will compete in our category at a national level and also bid to win the BCO ‘Best of the Best’ award in October 2017 at the National Awards Dinner at the Grosvenor House, AJW Marriott Hotel in London.

Adjaye Associates (UK) with Morgan McDonnell Shortlisted for The Ross Pavilion International Design Competition

We are thrilled to be among the 7 shortlisted teams for the second stage of the Ross Pavilion International Design Competition. We will be working in collaboration with lead architect and project principal Adjaye Associates and their team to produce a concept design for a new landmark Pavilion, a visitor centre with café and enhancements to West Princes Street Gardens, due for submission 9 June 2017.


8-12 Torphichen Street (Distillers House) Converted into Serviced Apartments

The completion in October 2016 of this conversion of the Grade B listed former Distillers House at Torphichen Street in Edinburgh’s west end was followed by successful occupation by the building purchasers who will operate the building as serviced apartments. A development comprises 12 apartments on 4 floors and features a single open plan 75m2 studio flat, one bed and two bed units set within the ornate period accommodation of the former Distillers Company head office.

17-21 Blackfriars Street Conversion is Completed

Completed just before Christmas 2016, the conversion of the former Presbyterian Church on Blackfriars Street in Edinburgh’s Old Town allowed for the immediate occupation of the building by its new purchasers who will operate the 10 uniquely formed split level flats as serviced apartments. The accommodation was designed within each flat to make optimum use of the building height as well as create spaces of contrasting scale and intimacy. A commercial unit, suitable for use as restaurant or office, is also included on the ground floor.

We Welcome Lars Jeppesen – Our New Senior Architectural Technician

After leaving Scotland’s shores in 2011 for warmer weather, Lars recently returned from Australia taking up a new Senior Technician position at Morgan McDonnell Architecture. He brings with him a wealth of technical and BIM knowledge, and very much looks forward to utilising his skill set in this beautiful city. Welcome aboard!

Phase One of 40-42 Drumsheugh Gardens is Completed

The 1st phase of our 40-44 Drumsheugh Gardens development in the heart of Edinburgh’s West End is complete. The project for developer Square & Crescent involves the conversion of 5 townhouses from office use to form 20 luxury apartments in 2 phases. The second phase is due to complete this Spring.
