the scheme for advocate's close follows four main design themes; repair, reinstatement, modification and extension. the existing buildings, most of which date from the 19th century, are in greatly differing states of repair and neglect.

redevelopment of these listed buildings will not only bring them back into use, it will also conserve and protect them for the future. by providing adequately for the eventual users of these buildings at the design and planning stage, their continuing preservation can be safeguarded.
