some areas of the site, which had been treated unsympathetically, as for example at roxburgh’s court, are notable for their feeling of being out of context with the adjacent historic and noteworthy buildings.  the scheme involves the modification of these elements to bring them into line with the quality and feel of their magnificent surroundings.  the illustrations show the existing and proposed models of roxburgh’s court – this grey and unwelcoming space next to mary king’s close will be transformed into a vibrant haven and a valuable component of the public realm.
