Marl Lodge Gets Planning

Full Planning Permission has been granted for a new house in the grounds of Marl Lodge on the Argaty Estate near Stirling. The site straddles a historical fault line, therefore two solid stone masses have been arranged at a slight angle to each other, as if pushed into place by the movement of the earth’s crust. These blocks are reminiscent of traditional Scottish Brochs with vertical circulation contained within the mass of the enclosing walls and are connected by a lightweight glazed double height hallway. The open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen enjoy uninterrupted views across the estate and beyond. A sustainable design approach will be adopted, with a number of low or zero carbon technologies being incorporated.
