Morgan McDonnell Architecture Ltd was started in 1995 by Guy Morgan and Anthony McDonnell. Lisa Morgan joined the company in 2001 as a director. Guy, Anthony and Lisa all graduated in Architecture from Edinburgh College of Art. We have a dedicated and talented core staff who have been with us for over 5 years.

We follow the same ethos now as we did back then: to provide our clients with the best design solution possible, to understand their specific needs and financial constraints, to give a friendly and approachable service whilst taking a serious and diligent approach to the job in hand.

Much of our work is repeat business from a loyal customer base which started in the leisure industry, mainly pubs and clubs but now encompasses all sectors. We have experience in a huge array of building types of all sizes and locations from city centre bars to beachside houses.

Over the years we have won work which requires an imaginative and sensitive approach to listed buildings and those in conservation areas, often winning contentious and demanding planning applications.

We undertake interior projects as well as the full scope of architecture projects. No project is too big or too small, if it requires creative input, then we will do it.

Guy realised he was destined to a life in Architecture when on travelling through Africa as a student he got a job designing accommodation in the middle of the Ugandan rain forest. He left ECA in 1995 with a 1st class honours degree and immediately set about creating Morgan McDonnell with Anthony.

If I could spend my time doing anything else, it would be...cooking for friends.

Anthony studied fine art and accountancy before finally deciding that architecture was what he should have been doing all along and graduated from ECA in 1994 with a 1st class honours degree. The opportunity of a private commission lead to the creation of Morgan McDonnell with Guy soon afterward.

If I could spend my time doing anything else, it would be...coming last in the Tour De France.

Lisa has worked in architectural practices in Edinburgh and Australia. She has also worked for a contracting company and ran her own architecture practice prior to joining Morgan McDonnell. She is also one of the Lead Design Tutors at Edinburgh Napier University, where she has taught for over 7 years.

If I could spend my time doing anything else, it would be...surfing in Sydney.
